Welsh Castles Relay – we won again!

Our men's team once again came first, ahead of Les Croupiers AC, Sale Harriers and Wirral AC. The women's team continued their domination of this event by winning for the 7th time in the last 8 years. This year we had a vets team as well, and despite many of our best vets racing for the senior teams we finished in 3rd place in the category.
The weekend proved to be a race of two halves. Whilst Saturday felt cold for supporters, it was quite warm when running and the sun shone most of the day. Sunday, in contrast, was almost biblical in the quantity and duration of the rainfall and those running that day had to suffer torrential rain and high winds.
Most impressive run of the weekend (for me at least, as I didn't see them all) – Sylvie Lloyd finishing 3rd overall on stage 9, just 1m16s behind the stage winner, and taking 2mins off the stage record – 8.6 miles in just over 48mins! At least two other stage records were broken by Serpies as far as we know: Nick Torry on stage 16 and Eric Phillips on stage 4. There may be others but we won't know until the final results are published on http://www.lescroupierswcr.org
Thanks to Paul Fromme for organising it all, Lisa Pettit for organising the accommodation, to Simon Barrett and Natalie Kolodziej the senior team captains, and to all the drivers who made the weekend a success.
