Welsh Castles Relay – Spaces Still Available for Mens Team

The Welsh Castles Relay takes place on the second weekend in June every year. The race starts at Caernarfon Castle on Saturday morning and ends in Cardiff Castle on Sunday afternoon with an awards presentation once the final team has finished.
The Men's Team won the race in 2009 and 2010 and it would be great to extend this to a 3rd straight victory. However, we are currently a few runners short in the Men's Team, so if you fancy a weekend of running (and socialising) in fantastic scenery, then contact Simon Barrett via Welsh Castles team.
It is true that there are some extremely challenging legs in this relay, but also some shorter and flatter legs, so dont let that put you off. If you want to run let Simon know and selection will be made on merit amongst those that put themselves forward.
Further Details:
There are 20 stages ranging in distance from 8 to 14 miles passing many Welsh Castles in some challenging terrain and each team has 20 runners who each run one stage over the course of the weekend, with ten stages on Saturday and ten on Sunday.
More information on the race including descriptions of each stage can be found on the website of the Running Club that organises and hosts this prestigious event (Les Croupiers). There's also an old report from the 1999 race. Some of us travel to Wales by minibus on Friday night, staying overnight in B&B accommodation in Caernarfon and the remainder travel early on Saturday morning. We stay overnight on Saturday, again in B&B accommodation, near the half way point of the race.
We also need drivers, marshals and supporters – if you would like to help please contact the Welsh Castles team.
