Serpie medals in the London XC Champs

Runner in Hyde Park

There was a strong Serpie presence on Parliament Hill this afternoon with large numbers competing in the London cross-country championships. In the women's race, Sylvie Lloyd finished 2nd to win individual silver, closely followed by Becky Glover who won bronze. As is often the case these days the commentator resorted to "oh, and here's another Serpentine" as more and more of our women crossed the line. We easily won the team gold medal and our B team picked up the bronze.

In the men's race it wasn't quite so easy. As I was starting my 4th lap I'd been passed by a few of the leaders and could hear the announcer calling them in. There was a real mix of teams and it looked like the team award could go to any of them. In the end only a handful of points separated 1st from 3rd with our A team in silver medal position. Highgate Harriers won.

Well done to everyone!
