2011 Club Championships

Jen and I (with some input from Urban and Dave) have now decided which races will be used as the 2011 club championships. The format for 2011 will be the same as this year: a mixture of track and road races from 100m right through to marathon.
- The 100m, 400m, 800m track races, and the marathon, are all 'virtual races' — that is you can submit your result from any appropriate race throughout the year and your best one counts towards the championship.
- The 1k, 1mile, 3000m and 5k are the 'grand-prix' races and will be held in the summer quite close together. They're all organised by the club and form a mini competition in their own right.
- The 10k, 10mile and half-marathon are open races which you need to enter yourself. These are the races we've been pondering, and they are listed below.
Distance | Race | Date |
Half Marathon | Tunbridge Wells | Sun 27th February |
10 km | Ranelagh Richmond 10k | Sun 19th June |
10 miles | Cabbage Patch 10 | Sun 16th October tbc |
Tunbridge Wells is hard to get to by public transport on a Sunday morning so we'll be hiring a coach. Details of that will be announced later but you needn't worry about entering and not being able to get there. (Update, 12 Nov: entries open via www.twharriers.org.uk/racing/tw_half_marathon)
There are always plenty of Serpies at club championships so no matter what speed you are there'll be somebody nearby in red and yellow to run with — or race against!
Don't forget that you need to race in club colours (except in the marathon where you may be obliged to wear a charity vest) so if you're new, make sure you cash in your voucher in good time. Note that only first-claim members can win the trophies.
