Double win at first Metropolitan League

Runner in Hyde Park

There was a record turnout from Serpentine at the first Metropolitan League race of the season, with 39 women and 66 men racing.

Becky Glover, Sylvie Lloyd and Mariah McConnaughey finished 3rd, 4th and 6th in the ladies race after running together for much of the race, and with our top 6 finishing within the first 31 places our A team heads women's div 1 with 415 points ahead of Highgate on 393 and Woodford Green with Essex Ladies on 352. Our B team is 5th in the division on 288 points.

The men's race was won in fine style by an U20 runner for Shaftsbury Barnet, 21seconds ahead of our Nick Torry. Our A team of 12 finished in the top 48 which was more than enough to make sure we are now top of division 1 with 1685 points, ahead of  Woodford Green with Essex Ladies on 1651 and Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers on 1528. Our B team all finished with the top 100 and are now comfortably sitting in 5th place in div 1, well clear of the relegation zone some commentators seem to think they're vulnerable to.
