South of England Cross Country Chamionships

Runner in Hyde Park

The South of England Cross Country Championships will take place at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath on Saturday, 30 January. They will be run over the traditional course, starting at the bottom of the hill in front of the Lido.

The women will run 8km (two laps), starting at 2.05pm and the men 15k (three laps), starting at 2.50pm.

Please note that both races will start promptly and before other races on the programme have finished. Take care not to miss your start time.

Meet by the athletics track. Changing facilities will either be at the Lido or at the track.

You will need to wear a race number and timing chip that you will collect on the day from the Serpentine Team Managers. Important – you must arrive early to be issued with your chip and report to the start for chip checking no less than 15 minutes before your race. Any runner failing to return their chip after the race will have to pay a penalty charge of £7.00.

You must run in a Serpentine Running Club top, not a Triathlon top. The Referee has asked clubs to advise all entrants that if runners do not wear the correct club colours, or try to run without a race number and/or timing chip, or try to join in the race after it has started, they will be disqualified.

Travel – I would advise you to use public transport. “Residents Only” parking restrictions apply in all surrounding streets until 1.30pm. Belsize Park tube (Northern Line) is about 1 mile distance, as is Tuffnel Park. Gospel Oak (Overground) adjoins the Heath entrance, if the service is running. Bus route 214 runs from Kings Cross, via Kentish Town (Northern Line) to Highgate Road every 10 minutes. Ask to get off at the Parliament Hill Fields stop. The bus journey from Kings Cross takes about 45 minutes. See for www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl further travel options.
