Dysart and Ellis Cups – Cross Country

Runner in Hyde Park

The venue for this popular inter-club competition is Richmond Park. The women compete for the Dysart Cup run over 4 miles (two laps, one small and one large) starting at 1.45pm. Teams of 5 to score. The men compete for the Ellis Trophy run over 5.5 miles (two large laps) starting at 2.30pm. Teams of 10 to score.

The course is mostly grass and is more or less flat. It is usually well drained.

No need to pre-enter: just come along on the day with your Serpie top.

The start and finish are opposite the Pembroke Lodge car park (where our Sunday runs start from), which is at the top of Richmond Hill. There are toilets here. For map, please see www.serpentine.org.uk/pages/location_richmond.html

The race HQ, where there are changing rooms, showers and refreshments, and where the post-race presentations will take place, will be the Ranelagh Harriers clubhouse. This is in Petersham Road. The building is behind the Dysart Arms pub.

Travel: by District Line tube or train from Waterloo to Richmond. The start and the Ranelagh Harriers clubhouse are both about 1.5 miles from the station. Bus 65 goes from Richmond station direct to the clubhouse and 371 goes from the station to the top of Richmond Hill (Star & Garter Home) and then past the clubhouse. There are no buses all the way to the start. It’s a 10-minute uphill walk from the Race HQ to the start.

The Pembroke Lodge car park is large, but does fill up if the weather is good. Please do not park in the Dysart Arms car park. It is for pub users only and runner’s cars will be clamped!
