Assembly League

The final event in the six race, summer 2009 series will be on Thursday, 3 September. The Race HQ will be Beckenham Cricket and Tennis Club, Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, South London – www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=537943&y=170182&z=110&sv=foxgrove+avenue&st=6&tl=Map+of+Foxgrove+Avenue,+Beckenham,+Kent,+BR3&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf
Race distance, 2.9 miles. Start time 7.15pm. The course is mainly around suburban streets. There is a hill near the start and another one leading to the finish. The finish is about 1km from the Race HQ. Please note that the course will NOT be marshalled.
The race is open to all Serpies. Entries on the day, only. There is no entry fee as the club pays this as one of your membership benefits. If possible, please run in a Serpie top.
The clubhouse has good facilities. In the past it has hosted one of the main pre-Wimbledon grass court tennis tournaments as well as staging County Cricket matches. There is a bar where food can be purchased after the race.
Travel: the Race HQ is no more than 10 minutes walk from Beckenham Junction station. There is a frequent service from Victoria. Journey time about 20 minutes.
The Assembly League is an inter-club series. The races usually attract about 150-200 runners of all standards.
