Timings
9.30am Senior Open Race 5 miles (3 lap flat course inside the park on paths)
10.30am Tenderfoot (approx. 1,500m on paths)
10.45am Kids fun run (approx. 400m on grass)
11.00am Relays (on grass)
You don’t have to enter in advance – just bring a £1 and your Serpie top. Please also make sure your club membership is up to date. It also helps us if you sign up on the planner just so we know roughly how many people to expect on the day. If you have any sons, daughters, nieces or nephews, etc. who might like to take part in the kids fun run, the 1.5k tenderfoot race (they will get a certificate) or the relays please do bring them along. It’s a great family day out and we get extra points for children!
Volunteers
As Serpentine are hosting this race we desperately need volunteers to help with timekeeping, manning the water station, marshalling the course, etc. So if you can help in any way please sign up on the planner as “will help” and we will be in touch nearer the time. In addition to the great feeling of helping the club, as a special reward Serpie volunteers will be eligible to run in the relays without needing to have run in the Senior Open 5m race! Supporters will be welcomed with open arms too.
Refreshments
It is up to the host club (that’s us!) to provide food and refreshments for all runners so if you are running, marshalling or supporting PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE show off your baking skills and bring something along for the refreshment table. The type of thing we are looking for are cakes, cookies, sandwiches, pasta salads, quiches, flapjacks, fruit, crisps, nuts, jelly babies, etc. We have had some great spreads put on by Dulwich Park Runners, Metros, ESM & Mornington Chasers so we have got a lot to live up to! If everyone brings something fairly substantial we should have more than enough for
everyone.
Also, as it’s the last race in the series, we thought it would be nice to stick around for a bit afterwards. So, depending on the weather, stick a picnic blanket and some beers, a bottle of wine or some soft drinks in your rucksack or, if it’s cold/wet, we could head to the Masons Arms near Battersea Park station.
