Sunday Cross Country League

Runner in Hyde Park

Below are details of the next Sunday Cross Country League race, which is this coming Sunday, 4 January at Royston. As usual, all entries are taken on the day. Just come along, preferably with a Serpentine top, and enjoy your run. Although Royston is on the Herts / Cambridge border, it’s only 60 minutes by train from Kings cross and the road journey is straightforward.

This is the fourth Sunday League race for this season. The event will be hosted by Royston Runners and will be held on Therfield Heath, Royston. The Race HQ will be The Heath Sport Centre, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG – www.streetmap.co.uk/idmap.srf?x=535289&y=240665&z=0&sv=SG8+5BG&st=2&pc=SG8+5BG&mapp=idmap.srf&searchp=ids.srf
The Centre has good changing and showering facilities. It also has a licensed bar that serves food.

This is a joint race, starting at 11.00am.

Both women and men will run about 5 miles. There will be one small lap followed by two larger laps. The course is mostly across open downland and is hilly. It is suitable for spikes, studs or trail shoes.

Please note that all muddy footwear must be removed before entering the sports centre, especially spikes.

The centre management would appreciate it if runners would use the rear entrance, nearest the tennis courts, to access the changing areas. This will enable the reception area to remain clear.

Travel: Car – there is plenty of car parking on the Heath. Train – from Kings Cross to Royston station. Take either the 8.52am (arriving at 9.36am), or the 9.06am (arriving at 10.04am). The Heath is 15 minutes walk from the station.
