Metropolitan Cross Country League – Sat, 29 November

Runner in Hyde Park

The third Metropolitan League fixture will be on Saturday, 29 November at Ruislip Woods, close to Ruislip Lido. This event is open only to Serpentine members (first and second claim).

The programme begins with the young athletes races at 1.15pm. The women’s 6km race will start at 1.55pm and the men’s 8km race will start at 2.30pm.

The course is mostly through woodland, including at least one major climb on each lap. Spikes or other off-road shoes are essential.

Advance entry is not necessary. Just come along on the day, with your Serpentine top, and collect your race number from the Serpentine team managers.

Changing, showers, race numbers and refreshments (including a licensed bar) will be at the Hillingdon AC clubhouse, 206 Bury Street, Ruislip, Middx, HA4 7TJ. The course is 5 minutes walk away, starting and finishing on Ruislip Common, next to Ruislip Lido.

If driving, take the A40, Western Avenue, out of London. Exit this at the Polish War Memorial junction and follow the signs to Ruislip (A4180). The A40 is usually very busy, so please allow plenty of travelling time. There is a free car park situated opposite the Waters End pub, next to the Lido at the end of Reservoir Road.

By public transport, Ruislip, on the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines, is the nearest tube station. It’s about 20 minutes walk to the clubhouse via the High Street and Bury Street. Two buses, H13 and 331, stop nearby (the stop nearest to the Crematorium). CARE: the Metropolitan Line will be part suspended. If you are travelling from Central London, Chiltern Line trains will be running from Marylebone to Harrow-on-the-Hill at 10, 27, 43 and 57 minutes past the hour, with onward connections to Ruislip by the Met Line.
