Cross Country update

Runner in Hyde Park

Val Metcalf (val.metcalf@btinternet.com) for the women and Malcolm French (MalcolmFrench@aol.com) for the men need to hear from Serpentine members who wish to compete in the following races that require advance entry. We need to hear from you no later than Wednesday, 22 October. Race details are:-

North London Championship – Saturday, 15 November at Copse Woods, nr Ruislip Lido, Ruislip (Ruislip is in north-west London and the venue is easily accessible by public transport). Women run 6km, starting at 2.00pm. Men run 8km, starting at 2.45pm. Course is mainly through woodland. All first-claim Serpentine members can enter and 2nd claim members can run as non-scorers. Serpentine are the defending men’s champions.

London Championship – Saturday, 22 November at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath. Women run 6km, starting at 1.40pm. Men run 10km, starting at 2.10pm. These races will be preceded by young athletes events. Course is on open grassland.
Qualification criteria:-
First claim Serpentine members who were born in Central or Greater London or have lived, worked or studied at college or university in London for not less than 12 months prior to the date of the race. 2nd claim members meeting these criteria can enter as individuals.

Other forthcoming cross country races not requiring advance entry:-

Sunday, 26 October – Sunday League at Cheshunt.
Saturday, 8 November – Metropolitan League at Wormwood Scrubs, East Acton.
