Men’s Div 1 T+F team come 2nd in latest match

Once again fate (in the form of S W Trains) conspired against us so that half the team were late (although not the same half that was late last match!) after an epic journey all the way to Eton, leaving us with no points in the Pole Vault. However, it was all uphill from then on in with exciting and successful races in the 800m, 5000m, 400m Hurdles and 110m Hurdles and superb wins in the Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump.
There were many Personal Seasons Bests:
· Richard Phillips in the 800m: 2:02.2 (this is also the fastest time by any Serpie this season). A great tactical race burning the opposition in the last 200m
· Richard again in the 400m: 55.7
· Nick Torry in the 5000m: 15:27.6 (fastest this season and the 5th fastest since 1990). Again sitting on the leads’ shoulders and kicking with 100m to go leaving them standing.
· Nick again in the 1500m: 4:17.4 (although still 0.1s behind Hugh’s Season Best!)
· Andrew Reeves in the 110m Hurdles: 21.0
· Sheldon Noel in the Long Jump: 6.58m (longest by any Serpie this season and 4th longest since 1990)
· Dixon Courtney in the High Jump: 1.95m (equals his own record highest jump since 1990) His 2m jump was only ruined by his number clipping the bar!
Other Results included:
· Danny McIintosh: 4th in Hammer, 3rd Shot (2nd String)
· Keston Thomas: 1st in the Triple Jump (2nd String), 3rd in Javelin and 3rd in Discus (2nd String)
· Dixon Courtney: 3rd in Javelin (2nd String) and 4th Discus
· Neil Tunstall: 2nd in the 400m Hurdles and 110m Hurdles as well as 3rd in the Hammer (2nd String) and 4th in 200m (2nd String)
· Hugh Torry: 1st in 800m (2nd String), 3rd in the 400m (2nd String) and 3rd in the 1500m (2nd String)
· Ebrima Noble: 1st in the 3000m S/S and 4th in 5000m (2nd String)
· Andrew Reeves: 1st in the 3000m S/S and 1st in 400m Hurdles (2nd String)
So we came a creditable 2nd in the match and currently stand 10th in the league out of 25 with 1 match to go.
Many thanks to Robin Kindersley for coming out to manage the team and a special thanks to Malcolm French for enduring a 4 hour train journey from Harrow to officiate for us.
