Green Belt Relay 17/18 May – sign-up!

Runner in Hyde Park

The Green Belt Relay takes place over the weekend 17th/18th May 2008 and is
organised by The Stragglers. The race is a two day, multi-stage,
multi-terrain relay around London’s Greenbelt countryside and surrounding
towns.

The route is divided into 22 sections (between 5.7 and 13.8 miles each), and
teams consist of 11 runners. This means that runners must run at least twice, once on each day of the race. This is pretty tough as you are racing two days in a row, but it’s also great fun and, as many of you will know, this is one of best Serpie weekends away as well as being an excellent race. We all travel around the course in a few minibuses, supporting other runners as we go. On Saturday night we’ll stay at a hotel near the half-way point. There’s some details of how the weekend works in this PDF:

and the Stragglers website is here: http://www.greenbeltrelay.org.uk/

Serpentine are currently planning on having four teams (including a fast men’s team and a fast women’s team) and every Serpie who registers will get to run on a team. If we get lots of interest, we’ll enter a fifth team. We need drivers and navigators so please volunteer if you can help.

After the successful trial in 2007, we are again using EntryCentral to handle registration, and require a non-refundable deposit of £26 which will cover the cost of transport and dinner.

Follow the link to go to our registration page on EntryCentral if you’d like
to sign up to take part.

Everyone who registers will be given a place on a team.
