Serpentine Handicap race is this weekend

Runner in Hyde Park

The handicap is a friendly serpie-only race (i.e. you must be a paid up member to run it) which consists of two laps of the Serpentine.

Good humoured registration takes place from 8.15am at the Bandstand in Hyde Park, near to the Dell cafe and close to Hyde Park Corner tube. The race is limited to the first 100 runners to register, with registration closing (with a smile) at a prompt at 8.55am.

It costs one jolly pound to enter, and if you are a first-time runner you will also need to pay a pound for your number which you keep for subsequent races. If you have run the race before, do not forget to bring your number (or you´ll have to buy a replacement), your serpie colours vest, but most of all a positive outlook.

Helpers on the day are always, well, helpful. Afterwards, most retire to the Dell cafe for comradly banter, convivial coffee and amiable pastries.
