Club 5km championships

Runner in Hyde Park

The final grand-prix race, the 5km held last night in Battersea Park, proved to be a great race. We had a record tunout of 116 competitors with some superb performances:

First man: Ian Druce in 15:56
First woman: Catherine Wilding in 17:47
Highest age-graded: Anthony Stranger-Jones with 86.3%

7 men finished in under 17 minutes and 9 women under 20 minutes. We had 9 finishers with age gradings over 75%.

But best of all was being part of a peloton of red and gold racing round the park and the great club atmosphere. Before the race, the AAA and UKA medals for the silver medalist ladies team in the London Marathon (AAA championships) was presented to our ladies team of Catherine Wilding, Liz Wynn and Holly Wilkinson.
