Indoor marathon speed training

Those of us who went to the Lee Valley indoor track on Thursday for a speed session were mightily impressed by the facilities. It’s clean, new and every convenience is provided making the trip very worthwhile. Plus there are some sprinters with lovely technique to admire when you’re recovering.
As a result, SportsMalcolm and I are prepared to make this a regular Thursday evening session from now until the London marathon: perfect timing for you to put the speedwork into your endurance-conditioned legs. Noakes quotes evidence that you need only 6-9 speed sessions to bring you to your peak, once you’ve done your endurance and lactate threshold work, so these 8 sessions could be just what you need to sharpen up.
Getting there is a lot easier than you might think:
From Victoria tube station: it takes 34 mins (e.g. take the 17:59 Victoria Line to Tottenham Hale and change on to the rail to catch the 18:28 train arriving at Ponder’s End at 18:33)
From Liverpool Street it takes 17 mins by train to Ponder’s End. Ttrains leave at 18:16 and every 30 mins.
Then jog the 3/4 mile from Ponder’s End station to the (well-signposted) Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
