New club records at Div 1 T&F

(After some effort) we (eventually!) got a great squad assembled for the Div 1 T&F meet last Saturday in Norwich. The team came an excellent 2nd, behind Norwich who were in the British league last season, and sit 2nd on the table, and beating 2 teams above us on the table. There were many highlights, such as Fynn Corcoran winning most of his 11 events! Keston Thomas couldn\’t make it due to work, so instead sent along a mate and new club member Andy Nathan, who didn\’t start off too badly, breaking the club record in the 400m with a blistering 49.1secs, and helping the 4x400m team (also Fynn, Sheldon Noel and Kelroy Bridgemann) also break the old mark with a 3:26.1, amazing stuff!
Unbelieveably the club records weren\’t even the high point of the day, this came in the steeplechase where Div 1 new boys Andy Reeves and Ian Druce both came from behind to win both strings of the 3000m steeplechase, spurred on by Danny McIntosh who could still be heard loud and clear all the way down the back straight the boys assure me.
Well done to everyone, as well and Andy & Ian, Kevin Darcy, Jasyn Savage, Charles Lescott and Tony McGahan all took a step up from the lower divisions to help out, and all scored good points for the team. Also massive thanks to Angie Palin, Rachel Brough and Jeni Vlahovic who officiated in a most professional manner, and looked good doing it! It was a great day out and I think everyone enjoyed it immensely.
The Div 1 team now lies 16th of the 25 teams, however they are level on points with the 11th team, so still plenty to play for in the last match. Several regulars are away for this fixture, so I\’d like to hear from all blokes who could turn out for the club in Divisions 1, 3 or 4 on 5th August. The Div 4 team may be a little short so pretty much all standards welcome, it\’s all about getting in there and having a go at that level!
