This is one of the most important races of the year for Serpentine. We have 3 teams – men, women and vets.

Will 2006 see our women\’s team get the hat trick? They won the ladies race and the Queen of the Mountains awards in both 2004 and 2005 so it could be an exciting race in June. Angie Palin will be team captain this year.

Our men\’s team made their highest ever placing in 2005 and Paul Fromme is again the team captain anf hoping to improve again in June.

Our vet\’s team is always up against some fearsome competition (Thames Hare and Hounds have a vet\’s team entered this year, for example) and so our target will be to do well (win?) the Monarchs of the Mountains prize. We say that every year – will 2006 be the year we actually manage it? Nadya Labib is the team captain so if you\’re a fast vet expect a phone call…

Of course with teams of 20, there\’s plenty of room for most members to get a place on the teams, especially the women\’s and vet\’s teams. Unfortunately the standard for the men\’s team may well exclude some who\’d like to run, which is a shame, but we are unable to get any more team entries for this prestigious race. The Green Belt Relay is a great alternative and we can guarantee a place on a team in that race if you\’re not selected for Wales.
