WANTED – New Serpentine website manager

Runner in Hyde Park

The Serpentine website is currently maintained by a number of people who look after different aspects of the design, content and coding (the \’geeks\’ team). Rob\’s current role, the \”webmaster\”, is primarily to look after all the static content e.g. our London marathon pages or the pages dealing with cross-country or track and field. There are also some other tasks handled by Rob, such as dealing with WorldPay (our web payments company), and developing online registration forms etc., which will probably be moved to someone else in future.

I\’m looking for someone primarily to take on the role of coordinating the work of those doing the content updates (as well as doing some themself). There\’s also scope to develop new content or anything else you have time for. Of course much of the content comes from other people and the webmaster just has to format it for the web and load it onto our server.

With the current level of change and the backlog of outstanding work I feel it would be possible for two or more people to take over this role, working with the rest of the \’geeks\’ team, splitting the job between \”content\” and \”management\”. We have lots of plans for the development of the site and it could be an exciting time to be involved.

You don\’t have to have great IT skills, but you have to be
willing to learn and work as part of a team. As a minimum, applicants should have a basic understanding of html and web design tools such as DreamWeaver; they should also have their own PC, good internet access and be online regularly. It would be useful if they are also relatively active club members so that they can keep track of current club news. Applicants need to be able to spare at least 4 or 5 hours per week, not necessarily all at once.

Please contact me if you\’re interested or want further details.
