Serpie men have another good result in Aldershot

Runner in Hyde Park

On a very busy day in the racing calendar, Serpentine managed to get one senior men’s team and one V50 men’s team to Aldershot for the autumn relays yesterday. Unfortunately we couldn’t field a V40 or V60 team due to insufficient men being available.

However, most of our fastest guys were on the senior team for this 6x 6km relay against the best runners in the south of England.

69 senior teams competed and our men came in 26th place or 21st club, dicounting B & C teams, which means we have again qualified for the National road relays in October, where our team will get the chance to race the best runners from the whole of Britain.

The individual results were:

Ben Paviour 19:29
Steve Hilton 21:15
Andrew Reeves 20:09
Eric Vamben 19:42
Paul Perry 21:17
Chris Blackburn 18:41

The V50 men came 16th (from 20 teams) in their race and their results were:

Robert Maslen 24:48
Cliff Hide 25:22
Richard Long 25:17
David Smart 24:30

The spring and autumn road relays are designed to be a transitional race between the end of the track and field season and the start of the cross-country season, and are designed to allow clubs to measure themselves against their peers in each region and, if good enough, nationally.
