Serpie ladies vets win through to track and field final!

Last night’s performances were typical of the rest of the season – while we had some superb individual results, what carried us through was the great good humour of our competitors who gamely tackled things they had never even dreamed of previously, just to make sure a slot was filled and a valuable point or two earned – all flawlessly supported by team manager Bev.
Although it is quite unfair to single out one event, the
last one of last night’s card is imprinted in my memory. Our 4×200 team came out with sparkling style and an absolutely breathtaking finish. They were – Carole Wisdom, Christel Beukes, Val Metcalf, and – screamed on by the rest of us, the glory leg, which won the event in the last two strides – by Catherine Shelley. And then Carole went back to finish her
long-jump competition – with a PB…..
Great effort by all our competing ladies throughout the season – thank you!
