Serpie Capital Ring Runs - Beckenham to Wimbledon Park on Sunday 11th July

With stages 1 and 2 successfully complete, we are excited to announce the next instalment of the Serpie Capital Ring Runs. Come and join us for stage 3 of our trail running adventure from Beckenham to Wimbledon Park on Sunday 11th July. Please follow this link to sign up page

Stage 3 - Beckenham to Wimbledon Park on Sunday 11th July

Serpies in Beckenham Place Park - almost reached the pub!

Stage 3 of our adventure starts in Beckenham where we stopped last time, midway through section 3 in the Transport for London schedule. This stage will take us across south London through Penge to Crystal Palace Park, where we may even get a chance to spot some dinosaurs! From there we run to Streatham Common through a series of parks and woods, and then on to Wimbledon, covering sections 4 and 5 in the Transport for London schedule. This stage is about 13 miles (21km) and includes a few fairly steep hills at the start where you will be rewarded with some great views, and then the route flattens out. During the run you will see Norwood Grove and the White House, the Rookery Gardens, the historic Streatham Pumping Station, Tooting Bec and Wandsworth Commons, HM Wandwsworth Prison (home to Oscar Wilde for a while) and end at Wimbledon Park.

TfL recommends the Go Jauntly app to help with navigation.

Quick recap: what are the Serpie Capital Ring Runs and can I still join you?

Serpies are welcome to join us for any of the stages. You do not need to have run them all. For anyone who missed stages 1 and 2, the Ring Runs are a series of Serpentine-organised trail runs around the Capital Ring - a 78-mile route around the suburban greenery of London.

Serpies running in Southeast London in Stage 2 on 20th June 2021

This is an opportunity to explore outer London, socialise with other Serpies and practice those navigation skills. Running is mainly on long distance footpaths, with plenty of sign posts and never far from public transport. These runs are fun, social events open to all - some choose to run fast, others choose to take it more slowly. If you are able to run 10k in roughly 70 minutes, you should be able to run the majority of it. And even better, we always end up in a pub to celebrate!

Please note that you need to be a current Serpentine RC member to take part.  Not a member yet but want to run with us?  Join us here

Want to join us for stage 3?

Covid restrictions still apply, so we require you to sign up in advance before coming, so that we can gather contact tracing information. It will also give us an idea about grouping, and allow us to know numbers in order to book a few tables in a pub. Please fill in you details here. In particular, let us know if you are happy to be a ‘group leader’ (who will make sure we don’t lose anyone and also will act as emergency contact), or if you have any specific needs.

Unable to make the 11th July but still want to run Stage 3?

If any Serpies can’t make the date but would still like to run stage 3 before doing stage 4, Lindsey Chiswick will be doing a catch up run on Sunday 25 July. Please do get in touch if you want to join her.

Any questions – please email Lindsey Chiswick.

Looking forward to having you joining us!
