Tour de Serpiesphere – Stage 4 has begun!

The Tour de Serpiesphere has passed its halfway stage, with the longest and the shortest stages still to come. Stage 4 – the longest stage with 16km of running – has just begun, and will close on 4th April.

Stage 3 Winners

As Stage 3 coincided with the Serpiesphere Virtual 5k handicap race, Sophie will tell you more about the race results (and show you the best photo of the fortnight) in a few days’ time.  For the Tour, well done to the 5k winners in Stage 3:

  • Christopher Tsantoulas surged ahead of his fellow GC contenders and stopped the clock at a quick 16:46.
  • Mariah McConnaughey became the third stage winner in as many races with a time of 19:39.
  • Andrew Roberts achieved an astonishing 88.5% to top the age-graded category with a time of 19:19.

The GC and the jerseys

The gap from the top of the General Classification has narrowed with new stage winners, but Kit Grierson and Rhea Colvin did just enough to hold on to the Virtual Yellow Jerseys.

But as you know, it's not necessarily the fastest runners who will claim the coveted crown at the end but those with the biggest improvement relative to their marathon PB. 70 of us have run in all three stages so far. Please see the GC table via this link – to see how much time you’ve got left to run the last two stages to beat your marathon PB:

Thanks to everyone who got in touch with your missing times. It’s totally fine if you missed some stages during the race periods. You wouldn’t win the overall prize, but we would still have your times recorded.  Anybody who misses stages or enters late is still welcome to join – and you can still beat your marathon PB!  Enter the Stage 4 race following the instructions below. To backfill the missing stages (i.e. your time is shown as ‘DNS’ below), please email Frank to get your times recorded:

It is likely that we haven’t got everyone’s marathon PB correctly (for example if it is not on Power of 10 or Serpiebase, we wouldn’t know), or in some cases it is missing.  For any addition or amendment on your marathon PB, please let Malcolm know.

Stage 4 – 16km (from now until 4th Apr)

The longest stage has begun. Stage 4 is a 16km race – will some of the GC runners launch an attack to the summit?  To all of us, this is the stage where we can make a significant dent in our combined marathon PB. We have until 10pm on Easter Sunday 4th April to enter. Just like the previous stages:

Email Hans if you have any queries.

Enjoy your ten-miler!
