Club runs - Return to the Seymour Centre

From Wednesday 16th of September 2020 our Wednesday evening and Saturday morning club runs will resume from the Seymour Centre for a trial period of 4 weeks with the hope that we can continue thereafter if the trial goes well.

Our runs will look a little different from what you are used to, as we take measures to safeguard your health and wellbeing in line with Covid-19 guidance issued by Everyone Active, England Athletics, BTF and the Government and we appreciate your efforts in adhering to the new procedures we have put in place, so that our activities can continue.

Please read all the following information carefully ahead of club run participation and Kit room purchases.

  • Pre booking will continue to be mandatory for club run attendance. No booking means you will not be able to run and all runs MUST begin and end at the Seymour Centre. The club run sign up sheets can be found here (for Wednesday nights) and here (for Saturday mornings).
  • All members are reminded that if they or a household member are unwell they are not to attend club activities and must follow Public Health and government guidance. If they have been involved in any club activities within 14 days before or after becoming unwell or receiving a positive test they must inform the club Covid Coordinator Liz Ayres
  • While changing facilities will be available in the building we strongly advise that members arrive ready to run. There are currently no showering facilities available.
  • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of your allocated run time. We must ensure no more than three run groups are waiting at any one time, to maintain appropriate social distancing. Run groups will be set off at staggered times, two to three minutes apart and according to pace. If you miss your booked slot we will place you within the next available group.
  • Access to kitroom to purchase items will be by appointment only during club run hours, please drop a line to serpentine.kit@gmail.com with enquiries or to book a slot. Gloves and masks will be provided and members advised to use these whilst in the kit room.

What do I do when I get to the Seymour Centre for my run?

Option 1: No bag to drop off?

If you have no bag to drop and are ready to run then please do not enter the Seymour but instead walk around to the rear of the building on Shouldham Steet, you will be met by one of our club volunteers who will check you are booked to run and direct you to your run group.

After your run please ensure you return to the Seymour so that a volunteer can mark you as returned for health and safety reasons. We are aware that some members use the club run as part of a longer run and we will be looking at ways to accommodate this but for the time being please return to the centre.

Option 2: Using bag drop facilities?

Enter the Seymour centre and show your Serpie membership card to centre reception staff for access through the turnstiles, there will be no club volunteers checking membership on the gate.

Make your way down the stairs to the left hand side of the turnstiles and follow the staff corridor, through the open double doors on to the clubroom. Please avoid touching any surface unless absolutely necessary. We encourage members to wear a face covering whilst in the centre, if they are able to do so.

You will be met by a volunteer at the club room entrance and directed to the bag drop area. We will operate a 'one in-one out' strategy for storing bags, and you will be instructed where to place your bag.

After dropping off your bag, make your way up the stairs directly outside the clubroom and exit through the rear doors to wait with your run group on Shouldham Steet.

After your run

You must finish your run on Shouldham Steet at the Seymour centre, to be checked-in by our volunteers.  This applies whether you have bags to collect or not.

We will operate the same entrance policy as set out above and bags will be returned with the 'one in-one out' strategy.  Once you have checked-in and/or collected your personal belongings from the bag-drop, you'll be directed to leave and all attempts at congregation will be actively discouraged by club volunteers.

And finally - your feedback is needed...

We absolutely understand that this will feel strange and different from our usual cub run procedure and would value constructive feedback and suggestions from participants, on ways we might safely and compliantly improve the experience.  Please share your views via our questionnaire here, or contact Liz Ayres or any member of the committee with your ideas or comments.
