Welsh Castles Relay 2019

Sign up for the Welsh Castles Relay (8-9 June 2019) has now opened. This year we have 2 teams entered (open and women's).

The Welsh Castles Relay is a two day event, starting in North of Wales on Saturday morning and ending in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon. Most people leave London Friday evening, with some travelling Saturday morning. Along the way there are loads of sheep, some castles, a fair few car parks and plenty of great Serpie company (and baking). Everybody runs once and stages vary between about 8 and 13 miles, some flat and others much hillier. If you’re targeting something specific, we can try find a stage that suits you best. Each stage starts as its own race so you’re sure to get a good competitive run out of it, with Stage Winner’s t-shirts and Mountain Dragons up for grabs. The times from each stage are then added up to determine the overall winning team. As well as running you get involved in marshalling, handing out water and ideally, we need a few minibus drivers too. This year it’s on 8-9th June, with most people travelling to Wales on the Friday evening.

Last Year the Ladies team narrowly missed out on a victory and are hoping to field an even stronger team to take the crowns in 2019!

More information is on the Serpie website

Next steps

Sign up here to register your initial interest.

Following the sign-up period (deadline Tuesday 7 May), team captains will be making the team selections and initial deposits will be taken.

As your team captains, we are planning to hold WCR training sessions and socials to build a winning camaraderie! If you know of others who would also be interested, please spread the word - as long as they are 1st claim Serpentine, can comfortably cover the distance in under the cut-off times (approximately 9 minute miles) and are free for the majority of the weekend we would love to have them along too.
