Life Membership of Serpentine RC was awarded to James Stratford, for being a central figure at the Club Handicap and the Club 5k over many years, where his calm presence, kindness and good humour have the quality of putting runners at their ease. His commitment to the smooth running of the handicap every month and to marshalling at the 5k demonstrate his consistent dedication to the Club. Indeed, Malcolm French, Membership Secretary, former Chair and organiser of the 5k said that if he ever needs someone for a difficult marshalling situation, James is the person he turns to. In presenting the award at the Handicap, I described James as a rock in his Club roles. James has been a member of Serpentine for almost 20 years and is the Club's 30th Life Member.

Life Membership of Serpentine was awarded to Ian Hall for his sterling work over many years as Club Treasurer, where he provided a safe and steady pair of hands and for his role as ongoing leader of cycling group rides for the Club. Ian has been a member for over 24 years. In presenting the award, I commended Ian's modesty, caring attitude and reliability in his Club roles. Ian is the Club's 31st Life Member.
