Serpie Trail run - Sun 11th Feb

Join us for the Serpie Trail run on Sunday 11th February from Ware. This route is very flexible, with out and back or point to point options with straightforward navigation for a run of 4-14+ miles. Note that the planned run from East Grinstead has changed due to rail replacement bus service.

ROUTE

Starting from Ware station we run along the Lee Valley Navigation to Hertford. After running through the centre of Hertford we join the Cole Green Way which follows an old railway path to Welwyn Garden City, with options to finish your run there or turn around and return back to Hertford and then ware. This will provide options for faster and less-fast runners to do out or out and back routes at different paces and for different distances, and ideal for those training for a marathon or half-marathon.  Suggested options are (with approximate distances):

3 miles:  Ware - Hertford

6 miles:  Ware - Hertford - Ware

9 miles:  Ware - Hertford - Welwyn Garden City station

11 miles:  Ware - Hertford - end of Green Cole Way - Hertford

14 miles:  Ware - Hertford - end of Green Cole Way - Hertford - Ware

If you want to run more than 14 miles there are options to run along the Lee Valley Navigation.

Return journeys are 2/hour from Ware; 2/hour from both Hertford stations; 3 trains/hour from Welwyn Garden City

WHAT TO BRING

Please note this is an unsupported run and we don't have any bag storage, so come in your running gear and bring only what you will carry with you. Bring sufficient water, a waterproof jacket and a warm top for afterwards, and a small rucksack to carry these items. You may also want to bring a couple of gels or other light snacks that can be consumed on the move, such as dried fruit or jelly babies if you are running a longer distance. Trail shoes recommended, but road shoes are suitable but may get muddy.
