Weekend round-up
Even rain of near biblical proportions couldn't stop Serpies from bagging more medals, top spots and records. Read the week's news below.
Southern Cross Country Championships
56 intrepid Serpies (20 women and 36 men) travelled to Stanmer Park, just outside Brighton, to take on a very tough course under gruesome conditions, especially for the men. There were many strong runs on the day that ultimately brought us hard earned and well deserved team bronzes.
Our first six men to form the scoring team were: Andy Greenleaf (10th), Chris Wright (29th), Will Green (37th), Dave Morgan (39th), John Franklin (44th) and Tony Payne (51st).
Our first four women to form the scoring team were: Izzy Clark (17th), Sarah Pemberton (38th), Tash Sheel (45th) and Sam Ludlow Taylor (48th).
A special shout-out to Jonah Kramer who put in a great performance and finished 13th in the U15 category. And a big thank you to Malcolm French, David Lipscomb, Grace Sim Mackintosh and Daisy Gladstone for officiating and marshalling.

RunThrough Lee Valley Park Half Marathon
Hendrik Zietsman won the race in 1:18:57 (82.5%). The performance places him 3rd on the all-time Serpentine V50 rankings. Many congratulations!
Last Friday 5k
The January edition saw a Serpentine one-two, with Rick Weston taking top spot in 15:37 and Nicolas Besson 2nd in 16:35. Sam Richardson (18:15) and Marcin Kacperczyk (18:31) both ran PBs. Well done all!

VTTA Group Age Records
Ros Young got notified of not one, but two London & Home Counties Group age records by the Veteran Time Trials Association last week. She is the proud holder of the cycle time trial records over 10 and 25 miles (33:19 and 1:23:31 respectively), established on May 25th 2017 at the age of 73. Way to go Ros!
