Weekend round-up

Serpies were rewarded with a great selection of silverware for braving the elements at the weekend. Well done all, great work!

Box Hill Fell Race

17 Serpies decided to take on the muddy 7.5 miles and 1,700 feet of ascent of the 37th Box Hill Fell Race, organised by South London Orienteers. Congratulations to Sarah Pemberton (69:11) and Natasha Sheel (71:44) who took silver and bronze in the women's race. The Serpie men were led home by Hugh Torry (63:12), ahead of James Gillanders (66:39) and Simon Buckley (69:42). In the team results, Serpentine placed 5th, 8th and 17th.

Fred Hughes 10m

25 Serpies turned out for the snowy 2018 10-mile club championship race organised by St Albans Striders. And how! Marta Bagnati won the women's race in 1:00:52 (she was 23rd overall), with Megan Roberts 5th in 1:06:37. The men's race saw three Serpies finish in the top 10: Milan Misak took bronze in 55:40, while Nick Todd was 9th (58:25) and Nicolas Besson 10th (58:57). Serpentine also won both the women's and men's team prizes (4 fastest finishers). Congratulations!

Met League Cross Country Update

With one last fixture to go this season (Trent Park on February 5th), the organisers published the individual standings after 4 fixtures. Serpie highlights include Jonah Kramer (U15), Alexandra Baird (V35), Daniel De Palol (V40) and Christine Kennedy (V60) leading their age category. In the senior women's and men's tables, the top Serpie names are Marta Bagnati (4th out of 361), Natasha Sheel (7th), Hugh Torry (14th out of 813) and Dave Morgan (20th). Keep it up in Trent Park!

The best of the rest

Dudley Desborough was joint winner of the Winter Tanners 30M, organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association, in 5:23:00, with Frank Womelsdorf 14th in 7:01:00 and Serpie trail legend Hisayo Kawahara 56th in 8:20:00. Jennifer Eduwu got another PB at the London Games in Lee Valley in a time of 7:92 over 60m. Elizabeth Ayres ran a 10k PB at the Victoria Park Winter 10K Series on Sunday. Well done all!

Parkrun

Simon Craddock came 2nd in Dulwich in 17:01, while Jonathan Bradford finished the Hackney Marshes run 4th in 17:09. Helen Gray (19:34) and Victoria Basquill (19:50) were 1st lady and 5th / 3rd overall in Barry Curtis and Greenwich respectively. Lee Wilkinson was 5th in 18:02 at Burgess, Will Salt 8th in 19:55 at Gladstone, Kemuel Solomon 3rd in 19:33 at Canons Park and Milan Misak 7th in 17:54 at Fulham Palace.
