Over 80 Serpies competed in four seeded races over 3,000m culminating in the women's race and men's 'A' race. Everyone did a good job of seeding themselves correctly which made for some closely contested 7.5 lap battles. In the women's race Helen led from the start, while the men's 'A' race was a tactical one with the lead changing several times before Jonathan pulled away in the last lap.

Trophies will be presented at the next grand-prix race, the 1-mile on Tuesday 12th July at Paddington. Registration for that race will start at 6:30pm at Paddington Track and will close at 7:20pm to allow time for seeding everyone into the appropriate race. The races will begin at 7:30pm and are free to enter, but seniors will need to pay the £1 track fee at Paddington as usual. Juniors are welcome to race. Please try to remember to wear your Serpie top (required to score).

Thanks very much to all the Serpies who officiated last night, without whom the races couldn't have happened: track judges George Allan, Sally Hodge, Tolli Hickes, Mary Davies, Hans Ho, Richard Turner, Grace Wu and Nicola Barberis-Negra; timekeepers Andrew Maynard, Ilona Bagi and Thom Martini (plus me); helpers Daisy Gladstone, Steph Vaatz and David Chalfen; and starter/marksman Malcolm French. Many thanks also to Gavin Edmonds for photographing the races.
