Night of 10,000m PBs - Saturday 10 May
The Night of 10,000m PBs, which will incorporate the England Athletics 10,000m Championships, promises to be a chance to support multiple Olympians, a European champion and the best of British talent, including several Serpies, as they race over 25 laps of Parliament Hill Track.
Runners include European cross-country bronze medallist Andy Vernon, two-time Olympian Andrew Lemoncello, four-time Olympian Jo Pavey and reigning European cross-country champion, France’s Sophie Duarte. Serpie runners include
- Victoria Crawford - in race 1, start time 6pm
- Dave Morgan, Hugh Torry and Rick Weston - in race 2, start time 6.45pm
- Andy Greenleaf and Jonathan Poole - in race 3, start time 7.30pm
- Nick Torry - in race 1, start time 9pm
There will be a group of Serpies arriving at Parliament Hill Track before the first race, which starts at 6pm. There will also be a small contingent hot-footing it from Kings Lynn after the SAL to try to arrive before the final two races. If anyone wants to arrive earlier, Highgate Harriers are advertising a Tug-of-war championship starting at 3pm.
The event is free to watch and includes a live band, a 13 square-metre jumbo screen, a local school percussion band and refreshments including food, coffee and alcohol. Supporters are very welcome and will be encouraged to get close to the action (in lane 4 of the track) and make plenty of noise to support the runners.
