Assembly League 1st June - help sought plus race details

On Thursday 1st June, it's Serpentine's turn to organise a 5k race in the popular Assembly League series and we are looking for your help with course marshalling and at the finish.

We need 8 marshals on the course, plus 4 people for the finish area, where you will either be helping to record the finisher’s numbers or actively stewarding the busy finish funnel.  No experience is required for any of these roles - there is a great atmosphere at Assembly League events so this is a perfect opportunity to try something new if you haven’t volunteered before.

The race will be in Battersea Park. It starts at 7.30pm and the last runner should finish just after 8.00pm.  Marshals will be needed from 7.10pm.

The meeting point will be the Battersea Park Bandstand (not the Millennium Arena), which is in the middle of the park.

If you would like to help with organisation of the race, please email me on races@serpentine.org.uk

If you would like to compete but haven’t run in an Assembly League race before, you may like to know that the race is open to all Serpies.  All entries are taken on the day, with the race usually attracting about 250 runners of all standards.  The course is a flat and fast 5k.  There is no entry fee as the club pays this as one of your membership benefits.  However, if you want to make use of the changing rooms at the Millennium Arena you will need to pay their usual “non-track” charge of £3.10.  If possible, please run in a Serpentine top.

Thanks for your support,

Daisy Gladstone
