Results from Claybury Metropolitan XC League

At the first race of the new season both our women's and men's teams finished third.

On a typically warm and sunny day in Claybury for the first meeting of the Metroplitan League's 50th season well over 80 Serpies turned out to race.

The women's race suffered a delayed start due to an ambulance being called out onto the course but this allowed a couple of late Serpie arrivals to join their team-mates on the start line so it was quite handy for us. Sarah Pemberton and Marta Bagnati were our leading runners throughout the race. In the team results London Heathside won with Highgate Harriers second and Serpentine third.

The men's race proved to be a record field with around 470 men racing. Glenn Hughes and Dave Morgan were the leading Serpies across the line. In the team results, Highgate Harriers won, followed by Woodford Green (who had a large turnout with this being their home course), then Serpentine.

We had one junior racing in the under 13 girls race. Well done Carolina Montenegro!
