A great Serpie weekend of athletics

Second win of the season for our team in the Southern Athletics League.

Serpentine took a large team to Watford including some of our junior athletes for the fourth round of the Southern Athletics League, division 3N. We were competing against Watford Harriers, Newham and Essex Beagles, Vale of Aylesbury, Chiltern Harriers/Bedford & County "B" Team and Luton AC "B" Team (who failed to turn up!)

Serpentine led from the start with wins in both the A and B string men's and women's 400m hurdles and went on to win a huge number of events: the men's A and B string 100m, javelin, 110m hurdles, long jump, 3000m steeplechase, 3000m, 1500m, 800m and triple jump, as well as the men's 400m B string and 4 x 100m. The women added wins for the A and B strings at 800m, 5000m and 1500m steeplechase plus A string 400m and 1500m and B string 100m hurdles. An awesome haul! We also fielded non-scoring athletes in many of the events.

Well done to captains Nick and Mary for getting such a strong team out and to all the competitors. Thanks to officials David Lipscomb, Sally Hodge, Sammy Li, Steph Vaatz and George Allan (plus me).

Also this weekend, Awa Ndiaye (U15) was competing for London at the English National Schools Championships in Gateshead and made it through to the final of the junior girls 100m, where she finished in seventh place in a time of 12.78. Well done Awa.
