Serpentine had an excellent day at the SEAA 12-stage road relays in Gravesend on Saturday.

The club had three men's and one women's team competing at the SEAA 6 and 12-stage road relays in Gravesend on Saturday. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was an excellent day, with the men's A team achieving their objective of getting on the podium, with a silver medal - the best ever performance by a Serpentine team at this event - and the men's B team also qualifying for the Nationals on 8th April.

Peter Holmes, the men's captain says: "The stage was set for the A team to enjoy a successful day and I was happy to let that play out. Dave Morgan was instrumental in the success of the A team and David Chalfen was a motivational help to all of the runners. The B team also performed well and several runners battled illness and injuries to put in some strong performances. We were especially happy to get a third full team out and everyone on the team was grateful to the people who stepped in over the last few days to complete the team. In particular I wou;d like to thank Nic Barberis Negra, who provided a lot of help and advice, and Xavier Gruot, who helped out with the later train for people on stages 7 onwards.

Hopefully it will be a case of rinse and repeat in two weeks' time at the Nationals in Sutton Park, although I do know a couple of people who ran in the Southerns are not available. We have two men's teams to declare by Wednesday 29th March. If anyone is interested in taking part, has EA membership, is first claim Serpentine and hasn't already done so, then please contact me."
