Grand Prix - first race 1K - 29th June

The first race in the Summer Grand Prix series takes place on Saturday, 29 June over a 1km course in Hyde Park from 9.00am.  We will need some volunteers to act as timekeepers, recorders, marshals, to register runners and process their results. Click above for more information.

All entries are taken on the day. Registration will be at the Lido Café (near the swimming area and on the opposite side of the lake to where we register for the Handicap) from 8.15am to 8.50am, and the first race will start at about 9.10am.

The race is free to enter but please remember to wear your Serpie top.  This is suitable for all abilities – please do come along!

There will be several mixed races depending on how many people register, with groups of around 10-12 athletes graded by speed (not gender) setting off 3 minutes apart.

The race starts near the western end of Rotten Row and finishes near the Dell.

It’s predominantly gently downhill!

We will need some volunteers to act as timekeepers, recorders, marshals and to register runners and process their results.  If you would like to be involved with this please email races@serpentine.org.uk

After the races we will adjourn to the Lido Café for refreshments.

There will then be three more Grand Prix races:

Tuesday, 9 July - 1 mile – Paddington Track – 7.30pm

Tuesday, 16 July – 3000m – Paddington Track – 7.30pm

Thursday, 25 July – 5k – Battersea Park – 7.30pm

Each race is part of the overall club championship series and counts towards that, but the series of four also has its own trophy for the fastest man, woman and age-graded Serpie.  This year they will all be mixed races.

More details, including about opportunities to volunteer, will be sent out shortly before each race.
