Meet the Club Member: Eddie

Say hello to Eddie, who has officially represented Malawi and is aiming for a sub 2:44 marathon.

You are...

Eddie Ware, member since 2016

What brought you to the club

I joined the club as I was lured by the training schedule put on by the club and the opportunity to run with like minded characters.

When you aren't running, you are...

Reading up on when UFO / alien disclosure will actually happen - I’m very interested!

The most challenging thing you have ever done

For me it has to be running the The Great North Run with a very severely injured calf muscle and spindle injury. The pain was unbearable and to this day it is still the worst injury I have ever had. However, I had absolutely no option but to start and finish the race as I was representing Malawi in an official capacity!

Your favourite book or film

Wow, there are too many to choose from, but a film of note for me is All The President's Men. A big film with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman which has absolutely high level actors and good subject matter.

If you could be an animal, you would want to be...

A mongoose.

What you like best about the club

The social and friendly nature of the club.

Most unusual race you have ever done

I’ve never run anywhere unusual but racing the Belfast Marathon and down the Shankhill Road was an eye opener for obvious reasons.

Your top training tip

Train hard but smart.

Your next big goal

Sub 2:44 marathon.

Something you have never told anyone else or that would surprise others

I am part Welsh.

Pleased to meet you Eddie and good luck in your quest for sub 2:44!
