Marshals sought - National Cross Country Championships - Saturday, 24 February

Would you like to be a marshal at the National Cross Country Championships?  Please click above for more information about this opportunity.

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who helped ensure that Friday’s Serpentine 5k was a success.

I’m looking for some more help, this time at a far larger competition, the National Cross Country Championships.

The National will be taking place on Hampstead Heath this coming Saturday, 24 February.

This is by the largest cross country competition taking place in the UK this season with close to 10,000 entrants across 10 races.  The event, which is entirely volunteer organised, is only staged in southern England once in every three years and as in 2015, when it last came to London, Serpentine will be supporting the competition by providing many of the course marshals.  Would you like to get involved?

There are three options:-

1. Whole competition (preferred option) – you’ll need to be available between 10.00am and the end of the competition, which is expected to be at about 4.30pm (a lunch pack will be provided).

2. Morning session – you’ll need to be available between 10.00am and 1.30pm.

3. Afternoon session – you’ll need to be available between 12.30pm and 4.30pm.

There will be plenty of Serpie runners to support throughout the day and you’ll also get to see many of the UK’s finest endurance runners in action.

I very much hope that there with be plenty of Serpies who would like to get involved with this outstanding competition and join me as part of the volunteer team, especially as we are one of the host clubs.

If you would like to volunteer or would like further information, please email me on malcolmfrench1962@yahoo.com  Please let me know which of the above options you are available for.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Malcolm French – malcolmfrench1962@yahoo.com
