2018 London Marathon - Club Places
As in previous years, Serpentine has been allocated four club places for the 2018 London Marathon. These are places that we give to club members in recognition of their services to the club (although please note that Serpentine do not pay the entry fee). Apply by 28th November.
How can I get a club place?
The club has a set of qualifying criteria for deciding who gets one of the places. If you are interested in applying for one of these places then please look at the qualifying criteria on the website. This details how many points you score for various things such as volunteering (whether as a coach, organising club events, leadership positions, as a marshal, helping in the kit room or minding the bag room) or racing for the club.
Please note that members who do not meet the full points criteria can still apply. If we don't receive enough applications from people who have the full number of points, we will open out the ballot for the remaining places to other club members who have applied.
What is the deadline?
Applications close at 12 noon on Tuesday 28th November 2017. Please base your application on points earned from 1st December 2016 to 30th November 2017 and email details of any additional points earned (from 27th Nov to 30th Nov) to me asap after you have earned them!
How do I apply?
An application form can be found here. However, please note that I am more than happy to receive the same information within an email if people do not have scanners or are unable to hand the information to me in person.
I will check the applications and points and we will announce the outcome. If there is to be a ballot, the names will be drawn from a hat at the Christmas party on Saturday 2nd December, as in previous years.
For anyone thinking ahead, there is a great way to make a good start on building up points by volunteering for the New Year's Day 10K, where we are looking for some 100 volunteers. What a great way to start the coming New Year!
