Silver is the colour at the London XC Champs

Nick Torry and Sylvie Lloyd both won individual silver medals, and Serpentine won silver in both team races, at the London Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill.

In a reversal of last week's Metropolitan League race, Sylvie finished behind Highgate's Becky Penty in a very close race between the two clubs. The four Serpettes on our scoring team finished ahead of the fourth Highgate runner but their cumulative places scored slightly less and pushed us into 2nd place. Congratulations to Sylvie Lloyd, Sandy Wilson, Vic Crawford and Grace Wu.

In the men's race, your author (at the end of lap 3 of 4) was lapped by Nick as he chased down the TVH athlete in 2nd place and had a great view of the finish straight where Nick passed him at speed and kept going to make very sure of his silver medal. Hugh Torry, Eric Phillips and Ebrima Noble completed the scoring team.

Conditions at Parliament Hill were possibly the firmest anyone can remember. When will we get some mud?
