Last Friday of the Month 5k – Entry Information

Please always check our news page for the latest news on availability of places in our races. The Last Friday 5k races usually sell out of places about one week before race day.  We do not want you to turn up and be disappointed.

  1. The only way to ensure you get a place is to enter online via RunBritain ( ) or by post at least 2 weeks in advance (see the How to Enter section).
  2. If you simply turn up on the day you will not be able to race – sorry.
  3. The policy of the Club is not to refund money except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the club’s Committee.

How to enter

Because of Royal Parks rules we cannot take cash (or cheques) on the day for this event. Therefore, you must enter in advance.

Enclose a cheque (please write cheque using BLACK ink), payee Serpentine Running Club, amount £2.00 for a member of any athletics or running club or £5.00 if unaffiliated, plus a stamped addressed envelope and he will post your race number to you, or you can collect your number on the day if that is easier for you.

Alternatively, online entries can be made via the races section of RunBritain. The entry fee is slightly higher at £3 / £6 to cover credit/debit card fees and stationery costs.

Please note that when publishing the race results we will include information such as (but not limited to) your name, any club affiliation, race time and age category.  This information may be shared with the sport’s governing body and any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences and to allow the results to be combined with or compared to other events.


Please make sure you are fit enough to run 5km (3.1 miles).  If in doubt, please consult your doctor or medical practitioner.

UK Athletics (our governing body) is alert to its responsibility to all participants in athletics in respect of all aspects of health and safety. One particular area that young athletes (defined by UKA as athletes aged under 35) must be aware of is the risk of cardiac problems. There have been too many instances of young athletes suffering potentially fatal heart conditions without being aware that they are at risk. UKA has worked with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for several years, providing a screening service to athletes on the World Class Performance Programme. UKA and CRY are now seeking to encourage more athletes to use CRY’s screening service to help to identify any cardiac problems that may be otherwise hidden. CRY is a charity that was established to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to the sudden cardiac death of young people. They operate a screening programme at a number of clinics around the UK and support this with mobile units that travel to other locations. Any serious accidents or incidents will be reported using this form.

Race cancellation

In the event that the race has to be cancelled, we regret that entry fees will not be refunded. The entry fee does little more than cover the costs associated with staging the race. The bulk of these costs will have to be paid whether the race goes ahead or not. The principle costs are the Race Licence from The Royal Parks, the licence fee that has to be paid to the England Athletics in respect of every entrant whether they run or not, and the cost of the race numbers.
