Serpies Trip to Club La Santa, Lanzarote

13th to 23rd March 2025

Each year, Serpentine organises a trip to Club La Santa, Lanzarote, for 7 or 10 days of training, relaxation and fun. The trip is opened to all sports enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you are a runner, triathlete, cyclist, swimmer, a combination of any of these or just enjoy a multitude of sports, you will love it. Many Serpies have enjoyed the trip and are returning each year. For some it is the ideal start of the competition season, for others it is an opportunity to try new activities like road cycling or open water-swimming. The week is packed with activities and sessions led by our own coaches.

See the Activities page for an indication of what to expect if you go on the trip, the variety of training that takes place, the running and cycling routes available. The FAQ section tries to answer most of your questions about booking and logistics but if you have any specific enquiries, please contact the organisers.

The 2025 trip will run from 13th to 20th March (7-day option) or 23rd March (10-day option). It is open to all but non-members will need to become members.

Lanzarote, Club La Santa

Sports and activities

The potential for running, cycling & swimming is limitless. The club has three 50m pools plus a closed lagoon for open-water swimming, kayaking, wind surfing and stand-up paddle boarding. The 400m running track has recently been upgraded, there is also a fully-equipped gym, tennis courts and badminton, squash and other internal courts. The wellness centre has jacuzzis, steam rooms, saunas etc. which can be booked on site for a small additional cost.

We are coming with our own Serpies coaches and a running, a triathlon and a social program packed with activities (see last year program). In addition to the Serpie activities, Club La Santa offers a wide range of classes, such as pilates, yoga, racket sports etc. which can be booked on site (note some classes carry an extra charge), as well as other more ‘exotic’ classes such as TRX.

Physiotherapy and sports massage

The site has a Wellness Centre, which offer various treatments, massages and a spa. Those can be booked on site, prices vary. Please note that it fill up well in advance,  so it is advisable to book early in the week.

A private doctor is also available on site, however you will have to pay for their time as well as any medication/bandaging (even basic anti-inflamatories).

Eating & Shopping

There is a supermarket on site (open daily 8am-8pm) which stocks a wide range of goods, including products which are gluten, sugar and/or dairy free. There is also a fresh bakery in the supermarket. As this is the only supermarket on site, prices may be close to London ones. There is another supermarket in La Santa town c. 2.5km away. You will also find 2 sports shops on site for any kit you may have forgotten.

Club La Santa has a number of bars and restaurants within the complex (see brochure). You will usually find Serpies around the Pool Bar or at the El Lago restaurant during the day. There are also good restaurants in La Santa village (20-minute walk or short bike or cab ride away), some of them have become Serpies’ favourites over the years. Flats also include kitchen for those who want to cook “at home”. Please note that we tend to organise 1 or 2 dinners on site for all participants.

Weather

The weather at that time of the year in Lanzarote is warm and sunny, with temperatures ranging between 15°C and 24°C during the day. Water temperatures average 18°C. However the climate is very changeable (in recent years we have had some serious cross winds with a bit of sand and rain thrown in for good measure for a couple of days) so be ready for all weathers.
