Green Belt Relay – 16 & 17th May 2026 – Sign up for a place in the non-guaranteed list!
Thanks to everyone who has signed up for this year’s Green Belt Relay Serpentine team. All the guaranteed spots have now been filled, and there are currently six places left in the team. For those who haven’t signed up yet, you are now invited to sign up for a non-guaranteed place.
The Non-guaranteed List
This year we decided to leave the last few places to be filled not by first-come-first-serve, but the organisers’ discretion, in order to make sure we have enough drivers and/or runners of required categories. For example, at the moment we still need two drivers to ensure we can get everyone around the course. But of course, you don’t need to fulfil any particular criteria, other than being available that weekend and wanting to have fun with other Serpies!
Therefore, please join the list here if it is possible for you to keep the weekend of 16-17 May free and if you’re able to run up to 20 miles / 32km over that weekend (at a minimum 6 min/km or 10 min/mile pace). We are also going to pick runners from this non-guaranteed list if there are any withdrawals in the run-up of the race.
If you are selected to join the team we will contact you as soon as possible and will ask you to pay the entry fee (£80). Once paid your place is guaranteed! If you have signed up in the non-guaranteed list but would like to check the status of the team composition, please feel free to contact us at greenbeltrelay@serpentine.org.uk and we will let you know.

The Race
A quick recap of what this race is: the Green Belt Relay (GBR) is a two day event in which teams of 11 runners each cover a 200+ mile loop of London’s green belt. Starting and finishing near Hampton Court Palace.
As a participant you will run one stage per day (2 runs in total, one on Saturday, one on Sunday, total mileage over the weekend is approx. 20 miles/32km on a mixture of road and trail). When not running, you will spend the rest of the time supporting your fellow runners while exploring London’s surrounding countryside in a minibus. There is an overnight stay in a hotel Basildon, organised by the club (rooms are to be paid on arrival by each runner).
This year we’re going in as the holders of the Walking Stick, awarded to the best Vets team, and we hope to keep hold of it for another year but there will be two more teams so that there are opportunities for everyone to run regardless of how fast or how old you are. As guidance, if you’re comfortable covering roughly 10 miles/16km per run at 10min/mile / 6min/km pace while also following some simple route direction, the Green Belt Relay is for you.
Please see this page for a report on the 2025 race for Serpentine. We have a brilliant video on Instagram for the 2024 race.
