Serpie Planner - event reports

Halstead & Essex Marathon (16 May 2004)

Race started at 10 am far to late to avoid the sun. Temperatures peaked at 24 degrees centigrade with a slight breeze. A day for survival not for personal bests.

Halstead & Essex Marathon (13 May 2007)

It was tough but the weather was ideal: after dire predictions of downpours all day we were lucky to have the perfect temperature, a light breeze and despite occasional threats of rain, the heavens didn't open until after all three Serpies had finished! Descriptions of 'undualating' turned out to be absolutely correct though; while perfectly manageable on the first lap they were murderous on the second.

The race was extremely well organised by Halstead Road Runners, with plenty of marshalls where it counted, and also well supported by a hardy bunch of spectators. The small field of nearly 350, mainly club runners, was friendly and supportve too.

Halstead & Essex Marathon (11 May 2008)

Race report: Hot and hilly! In different conditions this would be a highly recommended run as for a small field there is great support and it's very well organised. You can even leave up to 3 personalised drinks at the water stations. Marshals stayed out until the last runners had got home. I'd love to do this run again next year if they could guarantee cooler weather.
