Blackpool Half Marathon (20 Jun 2004)

I went home after the handicap on Saturday morning, to find a parcel in my mail box with an unidentifiable

Blackpool Half Marathon (04 Jun 2006)

After receiving some bad feedback about the race from the Serpie egroup I went expecting the worst from the organisation of the event. I turned up bright and early on the Sunday morning to find out that the race had been delayed due to the lorry carrying the water breaking down on the motorway on-route to the race. Oh well I suppose that couldn\'t be helped and the weather was great so it left time to soak up the sun on the sea front. When the race did start the promise of zoning competitors was dropped - I saw a guy in a tutu starting at the front - and no he wasn\'t an elite athelete. Following the slight mess of a start the route was well marshaled and the field spread out pretty quickly. There was ample amounts of water stations - with sugars only given out towards the end of the first lap (about 12 miles in) but this is probably quite acceptable. In summary I achieved the time I targeted for after a surprise uphill stint on the way back from Bispham and after baking along the lower walk footpath. It was the first time I had been in Blackpool on such a hot day - warrants an early morning start!

Blackpool Half Marathon (03 Jun 2007)

A great event, highly recommended. The route is alongside the Promenade, with a very few slight ondulations. Exceptionally organized - the girls and ladies at the water stations in fancy dress and costumes. Very good atmosphere and great weather, although with a strong wind from the south as we turned round for the last few miles. Everything in touching distance - the beach, shopping, leisure, fun.
