Serpie Planner - event reports

Country to Capital (17 Jan 2009)

A new addition to the burgeoning ultra running calendar. 45 miles from Wendover, along paths until the Grand Union Canal is hit and then into Little Venice. 5 checkpoints with good refreshments (including great fruit cake). Navigation not too tricky. Well organised and recommended.
Mark Braley finished 2nd overall, while Helen Usborne and Jo Proudlove were joint 2nd ladies.

Country to Capital (15 Jan 2011)

A good number of Serpies congregated at the Shoulder of Mutton Pub in Wendover for an 08:30 start for this stalwart event in the ultra running calendar.

20 or so muddy miles through reasonably pretty rolling countryside were followed by 20 or so grim miles (personal opinion) plodding down the Grand Union Canal from somewhere near Denham to the finish at Little Venice.

Organisation was good, supplied maps less so and it was easy for less experienced runners to get lost in the first half.

All in all a race where you get what you pay for, it helps though if you like canals. Good to see a good turnout for James Adams' 101st race of marathon or longer distance.
