Midnight Sun Half Marathon (21 Jun 2008)

Runs in parallel with the Midnight Sun Marathon (see that for full report).
In summary good course, covering the (flatter) second half of the marathon course in almost guaranteed cool conditions. About 400 finishers in the half this year. Ruth Clifton was second lady overall and first in her age group.

Midnight Sun Half Marathon (20 Jun 2009)

It was staged on the southern shores of the little island where Tromso is located, with the start - at 10.30pm in broad daylight on the Summer Solstice night - and finish - with scanning the barcode on our race numbers - in downtown, not far from Roald Amundsen's house and Polarmuseet.
It was 6Celsius and a bit rainy in mid-race yet with shades of sun as well. The pockets of locals were very enthusiastic, with Mexican waves and even shouting our names. The local beer, Mack, was on offer at the finish. There were almost 450 participants in the half marathon and many more in the other events, the organisers offering leaflets for the Polar Night half-marathon, on January the 9th, 2010.
