Committee – Technical Lead


Leads on Technical matters for the Club and is the leader of the Coaching and Officiating communities. Helps to develop the coaching and officiating capability to meet the evolving needs of the Club.

Specific activities / jobs

  • Builds a community around members who wish to be involved with club coaching and officiating (separate communities)
  • Works with the Membership Leader to design a session programme that meets the club’s aims and member requirements across running and multi-sports
  • Agrees any investment and budget with the Treasurer and the broader governance committee
  • Recruits (with Membership leader and other coaches) new coaches and officials into the community
  • Oversees communication to all community coaches and officials
  • Chairs a regular forum to discuss issues of interest
  • Oversees career development pathways for community coaches and officials
  • Oversees allocation of coaching community to club sessions
  • Liaises with Athletics and Coaching bodies as required
  • Oversees Health & Safety requirements for coaching and technical community inc. Session risk assessments and reports to Committee

General duties and responsibilities

A key aspect is liaising between all Serpentine coaches and officials and the committee, always with a view to deliver the best possible opportunities to SRC members. Equally it is paramount to ensure all relevant parties are kept informed of new developments.

  • Work with coaches to ensure sessions are held regularly, in suitable locations, and meet members’ needs. Highlight any issues to the committee. Try to develop common goals and key races
  • Ensure all training activities are conducted in a safe and professional environment, with the health and safety guidelines set out by the club and other governing bodies observed at all times.
