Challenge Vieux Boucau

Serpie athlete Nicola Kaye races tri middle distance

With just a few days to go before the 2024 event, best of luck to the Serpie athletes heading out to the beautiful Atlantic coast in France to compete in Challenge Vieux Boucau. This event is only in its second year and is the fourth Challenge event in France.

Serpies doing the middle distance with a 1.9k swim in a salt water lake, a fast 90k bike through a pine forest and four laps around the lake to finish with the half marathon, include Hamilton Huxham, Veronique Leroy, Nicola Kaye, Sophie Taylor, Owen Barder, Grethe Petersen, Diego Caballero, Aga Wicinska and Katia Hadaschik. Hans Ho is doing the standard distance and there is also a team doing the relay – Natalie Butterfield, Anthony Lee and Martha McKenzie-Minifie.

Nicola, who incredibly is on her 15th middle distance tri, says: “I’ve raced triathlon now for 14 years. My favourite kind of racing these days is when the race can be turned into a long weekend away with friends and club mates. It’s a chance to explore somewhere new, and even when your training hasn’t gone entirely to plan – in my case – it’s a great opportunity to race for fun, while supporting others.”

Just in case you fancy a last minute trip to France, entries are still open for a short time!
